The Institute of Medicine just released a big report that states insurance should cover birth control and a number of preventive screenings including HPV testing.
From the report:
“Recommendation 5.2: The addition of high-risk human papillomavirus DNA testing in addition to conventional cytology testing in women with normal cytology results. Screening should begin at 30 years of age and should occur no more frequently than every three years.”
We are very excited about this news-it’s a big win in the battle to end cervical cancer.
